Bristo 241 - Delray Beach

The latest in a long line of restaurants that favor using it's address in the name, Bistro 241 is, nevertheless, a little more original in its' cuisine.

Starting with Steamed Mussel Chardonnay, the wine didn't overpower the broth and just enough garlic and lemon.  With plenty to share we never ate the 'crostini' (salted and toasted baguette slices). Pan Seared Diver Sea Scallops was the choice of one Sister and she wasn't disappointed. Served with wild mushroom truffle risotto that was creamy and tasty; but the scallops were the thing. Large, tender and fresh with a delicate flavor, the Sisters have no reason to doubt these are real 'diver scallops' and not 'net dredged'; three on the plate only reinforces this idea.  The other Sister, in the mood for some comfort food, chose the Slow Roasted Short Ribs. One boneless rib on a mound of Yukon mashed potatoes. 'Fall-apart' goodness at its' best! Even the roasted squash was terrific.

Empty when the Sisters arrived and nearly so when we left, this place deserves a try.  Owner Elie Boueri is the son of Joseph, whose Wine Bar and Cafe is across the street.  A family tradition? Lucky us.

The Last Word: a Molten Lava Cake, served with ice cream.  Not original, but sooo chocolaty!
